Egyptian Tentmaker Applique

If you are headed in the direction of Wagga Wagga, this exhibition would be well worth a look!  The Exhibition surveys the art of the Egyptian Tentmakers from the 1890s to 2010. For hundreds of years, Egyptian Tentmakers designed and made hand-sewn appliqué screens called ‘Khayamiya’. These intricate artworks adorned the spectacular tents of the Ottoman Empire and the Egyptian Khedives. I understand the Exhibition may travel to other locations in the future...
