I asked Denise to tell us a little bit about her quilting ....."I first got hooked on quilts at the NSW Guild show at Darling Harbour about 12 years ago. There are two kinds of quilts I like to make, the first is Japanese that are fairly simple, as I like the fabric to do the talking. The second is Wildflowers and using as many techniques as I can fit in (I get bored easily). I am inspired by the works of Tomie Nagano, a well know Japanese quilters whose way of putting Log Cabin blocks together is amazing. Returning to Japan is my biggest inspiration, it is such a beautiful country and they have Great Quilt Shows as a bonus.
Denise has won numerous award for her quilts at the Sydney Quilt Shows 2009 - 2012, represented the Quilters Guild of NSW at the AQC Best of the Best in 2010 and 2013 and received Honorable Mention in the World Quilt Competition 2012 for her quilt "Amongst the Eucalypts". Come and hear Denise on Friday March 22
