Next Sewing Day - Friday 12 June at 9.30am

Our next Sewing Day is on Friday,  12 June at  9.30 at St Luke's Anglican Hall.

Need a hand with your current project or the ‘Block of the Month’ ,or just enjoy the opportunity to sew in the company of other quilters ....bring the project you are working on, your sewing kit.  We will provide aniron and ironing board, cutting board and tea and coffee.

If you recall we suggested you to make two blocks of each design for the March & May “Block of the Month” draw, one for the draw and one for yourself. We now have a project for you to use those blocks if you wish to take part, the purpose is to learn some very simple quilting techniques and make your chosen blocks into a cushion cover.  You could use any blocks for this project.  Here is what you need to bring .....

Your four blocks, you can sew these together into a square before our Sewing Day if you wish.

1 x 20” square of batting/wadding

1 x  20” square of calico or any backing fabric of your choice, it does not have to be special as it will not be seen when the cushion cover is finished.

Two pieces of matching/complimentary fabric for the cushion back, measuring 18 ½” x  22”, folded in half cross-ways and pressed, giving you two pieces 18 ½” x 11”. These will be the envelope back for the cushion.

1 x 18” cushion filling of your choice.

Also, approx. 10 – 20 quilting (basting)safety pins if you have them, sticky tape, normal sewing requirements and of course your sewing machine.

Further hand-out will be provided on the day.

Hope you can join us. Cost is $5.
