As well as our normal meeting this meeting is the AGM. Please aim to be early as we would like to begin the meeting at 9:30 sharp.
Guest Speaker—Megan Manwaring
Megan Manwaring started quilting about 14 years ago following the birth of her first child. She describes her quilts as “grounded in tradition” and gravitates to bright, contemporary fabrics. She particularly likes hand applique, string piecing and hand quilting. Megan has had some patterns published in magazines and has taught at Material Obsession regarding it as a privilege to introduce students to quiltmaking and finds it informs her own work as well.
Megan joined QuiltNSW about 8 years ago to enter a quilt into the Sydney Quilt Show and since then has become more involved. (Very much more I’d say as she is currently our Guild President....) She enjoys being part of a progressive guild with a not –insignificant number of activities and covering a wide range of quilting styles. As Megan notes, “It is definitely true that the more you involve yourself in something, the more rewarding it is.”
(To have a sneaky peek of the treat we are in for you can see Megan’s work on Instagram @meganmanwaring or in recent issues of The Template. And on the Guild website. You can also have a peek into her studio at https://www.cosyproject.com/blog/see-inside-megan-manwarings-studio/)
